오늘의 단상_하나님심정과 요나의순종

 

오늘은 구약성경의 작은 책 중 하나인 요나서에 대해 이야기해보려 합니다. 요나서는 단 4장으로 이루어져 있지만, 그 안에는 하나님의 사랑과 자비, 그리고 인간의 불순종과 회개에 대한 깊은 교훈이 담겨 있습니다. 특히 하나님께서 요나에게 내리신 명령과 그 과정에서 일어난 사건들은 우리에게 많은 것을 가르쳐줍니다. 니느웨라는 큰 도시로 가서 회개를 외치라는 하나님의 명령에 처음에는 도망가려 했던 요나. 하지만 결국 하나님의 뜻을 따라 니느웨 사람들에게 회개를 전하게 됩니다.

 

관련 성경구절들을 통해 우리는 하나님의 끈질긴 사랑과 모든 사람들을 향한 보살핌을 더욱 알아가시길 기대해봅니다.

1. Jonah 1:2 "Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it; for their wickedness is come up before me." "일어나 저 큰 성읍 니느웨로 가서 그들을 향하여 외치라. 그들의 악이 내 앞에 상달하였음이니라."

8. Jonah 3:5 "So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them." "니느웨 백성이 하나님을 믿고 금식을 선포하고 높고 낮은 자를 막론하고 굵은 베를 입은지라"
9. Jonah 3:10 "And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not." "하나님이 그들의 행한 것 곧 그 악한 길에서 돌이켜 떠난 것을 보시고 하나님이 뜻을 돌이키사 그들에게 내리리라고 말씀하신 재앙을 내리지 아니하시니라"
10. Jonah 4:2 "And he prayed unto the LORD, and said, I pray thee, O LORD, was not this my saying, when I was yet in my country? Therefore I fled before unto Tarshish: for I knew that thou art a gracious God, and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repentest thee of the evil." "여호와께 기도하여 이르되 여호와여 내가 고국에 있을 때에 이러하겠다고 말씀하지 아니하였나이까 그러므로 내가 빨리 다시스로 도망하였사오니 주께서는 은혜로우시며 자비로우시며 노하기를 더디하시며 인애가 크시사 뜻을 돌이켜 재앙을 내리지 아니하시는 하나님이신 줄을 내가 알았음이니이다"

"이스라엘의 하나님 여호와께서 그의 종 가드헤벨 출신 아밋대의 아들 선지자 요나를 통하여 하신 말씀과 같이 하맛 어귀에서부터 아라바 바다까지 이스라엘 지경을 회복하였으니"
12. Matthew 12:39 "But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas:" "예수께서 대답하여 이르시되 악하고 음란한 세대가 표적을 구하나 선지자 요나의 표적 밖에는 보일 표적이 없느니라"
13. Matthew 12:40 "For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth." "요나가 밤낮 사흘 동안 큰 물고기 뱃속에 있었던 것같이 인자도 밤낮 사흘 동안 땅 속에 있으리라"
14. Matthew 12:41 "The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here." "심판 때에 니느웨 사람들이 일어나 이 세대 사람을 정죄하리니 이는 그들이 요나의 전도를 듣고 회개하였음이거니와 요나보다 더 큰 이가 여기 있으며"

마무리

 

요나서의 이야기는 단순히 옛날 이야기로 끝나지 않습니다. 예수님께서도 요나의 표적에 대해 언급하셨고, 이를 통해 자신의 죽음과 부활을 예표하셨습니다. 요나서는 우리에게 하나님의 명령에 순종하는 것의 중요성, 회개의 힘, 그리고 하나님의 무한한 자비에 대해 가르쳐줍니다.

 

우리도 때로는 요나처럼 하나님의 뜻을 피하려 할 수 있습니다. 하지만 결국 하나님의 사랑은 우리를 찾아내고, 우리를 통해 놀라운 일을 행하십니다. 창조주 하나님이 그 지으신 창조물을 얼마나 사랑하시며, 하나님뜻을 전하기 위해 우리가 저항하고, 소극적인 모습을 보일지라도 오래 참으시면 깨닫고 순종하도록 일해오고 계시다는 것을 이해할 수 있기 바랍니다. 하나님아는 지식에서 좀 더 성숙해져서 하나님뜻에 자원하는 마음, 적극적인 마음, 기뻐하시는 마음으로 마땅히 해야 할 일들을 준행하기 원합니다. 혹시 이 글을 읽으시는 분이 계시다면 이 관점에 대하여 함께 생각해 보면서 새롭게 우리 삶을 돌아보고 결단할 수 있기를 소망합니다.
